Service Beyond the Exam Room

Some of the most meaningful moments in my career haven’t happened inside my office, they’ve happened in communities where access to basic vision care simply doesn’t exist. Watching someone put on glasses for the first time, seeing a child realize they can finally see the board at school, or an adult recognize faces clearly again is a powerful reminder of how much opportunity depends on something as simple as clear vision.

Serving as President of North Carolina Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH NC) has allowed me to provide care both locally and abroad, and it’s also shaped how I see my role in our own community. Seeing what people can achieve when they’re supported, healthy, and given the tools they need inspired me not only to expand service work at home, but ultimately to step into public service and run for town council.

Whether in my exam room, on a mission trip, or working to strengthen our community here in Holly Springs, the goal is the same, helping people live healthier, fuller lives with the support they need to thrive.
